Check out this site! It's completely free and addicting.

For each word you get right, we donate 10 grains of rice through the United Nations to help end world hunger.

It's fun. You have to pick the right definition of a word. I'm learning some new words as I go. :) I've donated 2240 grains of rice so far. It takes about 8000 grains of rice to make a cup, so play and play lots!

What do you see in the picture below?

I see this: )
LJ is giving paid accounts 3 extra days of paid time for the outage last week.

Go here to collect: http://www.livejournal.com/pay/claim.bml

This is only good for paid accounts, not permanent.
I was reading comments in the latest [livejournal.com profile] news post, and came across something worth sharing.

After buying a Permanent Account, [livejournal.com profile] pendo is left with 72 days of Paid Account time that he can transfer to another user. He has set up a fun competition to find someone to gift the Paid Account time to.

Do you want a chance at Paid Account time?

Head on over to [livejournal.com profile] pendo's journal to participate!

Happy Holidays!!!

hahahaha

Look at me go!
Last night (early morning) I wrote in my other journal about my hands being stiff and sore and how that usually indicates rain. Well, today it's raining. Odd that I didn't feel it in my pelvis, but I guess having a baby in there changes sensations.

How did I miss this? FRNK Radio Of course I can't listen to voice posts at work, so I will have to wait till I am home to check it out. I am too chicken to make my own voice posts. lol

My husband has a blogging idea he wants me to partake in. I am going to play each of his games for an hour a piece, then post what I thought about them. Since I am not the target or typical gamer for his genre of games, it should be interesting.

I always feel behind on my picture posts. I promise pictures, then take weeks to get around to them. I'm sorry about that! I will try to catch up. Plus I have that video of Vicki playing with Jack at the farm I want to share.

This is my last shift for 12 days. *knock on wood* I'm working an extra shift on my next string too. I can't wait to go home in the morning. :D
It doesn't look quite like me, but still kinda cute.

Someone from a country I never heard of visited my journal today. I had to google to find out where Mauritius was. It sounds like paradise! They have a population of 1.2 million. That's about the size of Ottawa and its surrounding area.

Oh, and if you are wondering how I know, I have a stat counter in my userinfo that logs IP addresses and tells you what city, country the visitors are from (and more). It's a free service. Check it out! StatCounter

EDIT: I just added Mauritius to my "To Do" list!
I've decided how I want to spend part of my two weeks off. It came up in a few comments, and I'm really excited now. I want to paint some of the rooms in the house. We've lived here for 2 years and the house still has most of the paint from the old owners. All we've done so far is the kitchen, family room, and office. I'd like to at least do the dining room and living room, and maybe the downstairs bathroom. That would cover the main floor. I'd like to do the master bedroom and our ensuite soon 'cause that's where we spend the most amount of time. We did pick out some colours a few months back. I hope I can locate those swatches.

Work is going not so well, and quite slow. I'm coming up to just over the half-way mark now. Funny, I've had this window open since 8:11pm, but haven't had a chance to type anything out till now. In reference to my post on Afghanistan, it has just been released that Master Corporal Wilson, who was injured in the LAV III rollover, has died from his injuries. (I am unable to find a photo of him at this moment.) My thoughts go out to his family.

I hate driving home when I'm so tired like this. I also hate that when I get to the front door the cats are begging me for food and the dog has to go pee... when all I want to do is crawl into bed. I almost want to stay up so that I can enjoy my first day off. But I know that there's no chance in that happening; I'll be exhausted.

I was doing random blog searches and found a couple interesting things. One blog contained quite a bit of information on someone, and I was surprised they'd divulge so much over the internet. He was a soldier, and when I looked up the name he gave in our military address book, sure enough there he was! I know I give personal info on here, but usually only under private entries. Moving onto the next thing I found... Have you ever done a blog search on your own journal, or done a random blog search, and noticed that you can read part of a protected post? I saw a couple live journals in my searches, and when I clicked the entry link I was denied access, but from the search page I saw a good bit of info from the post. I told my husband about this, and he said he heard that there's a way that someone can view your entire locked post if they wanted. Apparently there is a hole in live journal, so your posts aren't as protected as you might think. I'd like to find out more on this.

Maybe now that it's slowed down again, I'll get a chance to catch up on some LJ reading. I can't wait for this night to be over.

Who else is love?
[livejournal.com profile] pseudomonas me scripsit anno 2005
I've been wondering how to do this for a while, and finally googled the interweb to find out how. After about half an hour I found an article that explained it. Maybe some of you have been wondering how to add those comment pictures too. So here's how:

If you are making a comment or replying to another comment on a post, click on the grey smiley face to the right of the subject line.

If it's not there, click on "more options" and the grey smiley face will appear to the right of the subject line.

How easy is that? Pretty nifty!
A number of people have asked me how I change the picture beside lj usernames. It's quite simple, really. Actually, before I became proficient in lj shortcuts I used to write out the links manually. I discovered this by clicking on "view page source" in my web browser.

I will not take credit for altering the names & pictures though. I wasn't smart enough to figure that out on my own. lol [livejournal.com profile] dopple pointed me to a post he made on this subject. He also directed me to a community called [livejournal.com profile] as_massive_tool, which is where I snagged most of my pictures.

Let's get started! )
I just discovered this link, so I figured why not, and added myself.

I've been thrown in the mix at Random Post!

It's kinda cool. You click the link and a random LJ post is displayed (from people who've entered themselves). You can also add it to your friends page to have a random entry thrown in the mix. I've started reading my friends friends page. Weekends are always slow. And of course, I still cannot comment from work, so I've got nothing better to do than read. :)
I should have known to check Happy Doggie first. The dog cafe is called "Wag" and is already open for business. They don't seem to have their own webpage though. I might have to make a date with Vicki. lol I'm very interested in seeing this place.

If any locals are interested, the cafe is located on Bank St near Sunnyside, right across from the Mayfair Theatre in Old Ottawa South.
I stole this link from Velvet & Satinkillbillydeluxe. It's too good to not share with other Canadians.

Below is a link to the search page of the Bank Of Canada for unclaimed balances. If a bank balance or other financial service is unclaimed after 10 years by the owner or next of kin, the banks turn over the balance to the Bank of Canada to be held in trust.

Any Canadian friends on my list will want to check this link out. Search your own name or just your last name to see if your family has any unclaimed money. My search came up empty, but hey you never know!

How to post pictures to LJ )

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions. =8D
1.) Copy and paste this into your journal:

<*font color="your username here"> <*b>your username here<*/b>

2.) Eliminate the asterisks.

3.) Replace "your user name here" with your user name.

4.) See what color you are.

minxy_baby & nodeg FOREVER!!
I was hoping mine would be purple. :(
