The Persian
Oct. 1st, 2006 12:42 amYou know what I want right now? A persian. It's a cinnamon bun doughnut with strawberry icing unique to Thunder Bay (my home town). Knowing I'd have no chance in finding an actual recipe for it, I googled anyways. I came across this page and this quote makes me sad:
The recipe for this popular, icing-covered treat remains a secret.
It's no wonder that nobody outside of Thunder Bayians have ever heard of the persian before! I love that Thunder Bay created this special sweet, but it makes me sad to think that the persian will never be caught on by the rest of Canada. I hate to think what would happen if the persian companies went out of business. (There are a couple places that make persians, but THE place to get them is The Persian Man.)
I don't know what I'm going to do for this craving. Ugh! Strawberry jelly doughnuts from Tim Hortins won't cut it!
