Random Painting Pictures
Mar. 12th, 2006 02:17 pmHere are more pictures for you. :) They are kinda random, however they do have a "painting" theme. You will see the old wall colour, my cats goofing around, and a glimpse of the new colour.
( Hope you enjoy! (+8) )

So I didn't get the dining room finished last night. I went to bed with a headache from the smell of the paint, and the paint thinner when I cleaned the brush. I had to get my husband to clean everything for me last night because the smell was really getting to me - making me dizzy too. After a hot lavender bubble bath I felt so much better. I even folded and put away some laundry before getting into bed.
I got up early this morning (8:30) and put the final coat on. Now I'm kind of stuck. The hallway and living room join walls with the dining room. That means that I can't paint anything until the dining room is 100% dry because if I start masking the dining rooms walls, well you know. I can't do the baseboards in the dining room yet either. So I'm taking my sweet ass time cleaning the stuff in the dining room, and preparing to start the living room and hallway. We decided that they will be the same colour. There will be one wall left that hasn't been painted after I finish all this. It's part of the hallway, and leading downstairs. I don't think we have enough paint for that. It's going to be the same colour as all the trim on the main floor, "Popped Corn" (bright white).
I was hoping to share a video with you today too. To my great dismay, the film had been erased. :( It was footage from our last place when we painted. I opened the living room to let in fresh air to help dry the place. I completly forget how window crazy Munchie (my white cat) is, and he jumped into the window covering himself in a nice dark shade of blue paint. I didn't catch him jumping on tape, but I filmed him all blue, then cut scene to after his bath with him looking like a wet rat. LOL Aww It was so cute. Ahhh The memories. I am really sad that it's gone.
I saw a dove this morning. Unfortunately I didn't get picture of it. It landed in the tree in the front yard when I was standing out there with Vicki as she did her business. When we first moved in we'd here the doves "singing" in the summer time... all day long. I wanted to shoot them! lol I haven't heard them in a long time. They sure are beautiful. This one was a light grey colour.
So that's my day so far. I'm having a hard time deciding where to go from here as far as painting goes. I guess I'll get my butt in gear and start taping off where I can.
I might not have the finished rooms ready to show until tomorrow (or even Tuesday), but expect more pictures from me soon. :) If you'd like to see pictures of my house, check out my "house_pictures" tag. I did a whole tour of my house (inside & outside) a few months ago. A lot of you weren't with my journal then. I never did finish the tour. lol I never posted pictures of the basement, guest bathroom, or guest bedroom. Maybe one day soon I'll finish the tour. hehe
OK, I'm gone now!

The Butterwall Experience
Mar. 12th, 2006 09:32 pmThe trim gave me an enormous amount of difficulty. I struggled with that for most of the day. I did 2 coats on the baseboards, touched up the ceiling, and put a half-assed coat on the window frame. The window is already white, so you probably wouldn't notice anyways. I couldn't do anything with that bloody tape!!! I swear you'd think I buttered the walls before masking them. Frick!

I forgot about supper till almost 6:00pm, when we were both starving. It was Indian night, so I went all out. It took me 2 1/2 hours!! We finished eating around 9:00pm. Hubby had to go out, so he asked if I wanted anything. I said I wouldn't mind a dessert, but I feel guilty 'cause of our challenge. I told him if he could find something small, then go for it because I want to make muffins or a sweet bread in the next couple days. He said Baklava would be perfect, and would fit in with our Indian night. He came home with a mini log cake. lol Everything was closed early so he had to go to the grocery store.
I updated my menu, and the food inventory list. We changed a couple meals, but that's to be expected. Tomorrow I think we'll have to change our meal again because of all the leftovers from tonight. Yay! Leftovers!! LOL This is the first night, which is amazing because I got so used to cooking for 4 people just so we'd always have leftovers. Now our meals are perfect everytime for just the 2 of us.
I used
xtown_traffic's Kofta recipe. Thank you so much, it was wonderful! I changed the spices a bit just 'cause I didn't have everything. I used some coconut milk too. Cross that can off my inventory! lol It was wonderful over plain Basmati rice. :) Thank you for sharing it.
I am pretty bummed about the painting progress. *shakes fist at
kasey9kahne* I expected to be at least halfway done the living room/hallway. Oh well, at least I can set the dining room back up and move the living room furniture into it. I just have a couple red spots to touch up and it'll be good to go. I haven't even started on masking the others walls. And after the butterwall incident, I think I'm going to do the trim first this time around.
I think after I clean all the brushes and everything downstairs, I'm going to call it a night. I deserve a break!
PS The wall colour is called "Fiery Red" and the trim is called "Popped Corn." (There will be more pics once the furniture is back in.)
