Welcome all the new people to my journal! I look forward to getting to know you. I've been reading my friends page and already getting good vibes. :D
Tonight is my last midnight shift. I'm just chowing on my supper now... a Chinese combo dish from the grocery store. I still have 8 hours to go. My shifts are 12 hours long from 6:00 to 6:00. The last day is the longest. hehe
Sometimes I wander the halls a bit at work. At night there is not much to do and I go a little stir crazy. This building is a bit creepy though. It's hard to belive it's been about a year since my boss died in the gym. A month after he died, someone else died in this building. I often wonder how many other people have passed away at work. The lights are all programmed to go off around 7:00pm, and some nights I just get a strange feeling. The elevators are the worst.
I have no plans for my days off... except maybe sleep! I'll probably take the pooper to the dog park. My husband will have 3 days off with me. They recently changed his hours at work, so our schedules don't mesh as well as they did. It might be too early to say, but I don't think I like his new schedule. He used to work 7 shifts (8 hours) in a row and get 4 - 5 days off. Now he works 6 days and only gets 3 days off. It could be worse though so I won't complain!
Yesterday morning I was blinded by 3 cars on my way home from work. This was at 6 in the morning, so they were all heading downtown to work. The moon was still out (I wished I had a camera), but it was light out at that time. I couldn't believe people still drive with their headlights on at that time in the CITY. lol Save those for the unlit country roads please! And they were following other cars and didn't notice their highbeams till they faced me... even then it was a delayed reaction. But 3 cars in one morning? Maybe Tim Hortins was closed and they didn't get their morning coffee. lol
I haven't seen my husband for more than 10 minutes in the last 3 days. Tonight was the first time I got a kiss. lol
Man, I really miss having tab browsing (FireFox). I have so many IE windows open. We could use a new mouse here too. It has a mind of its own.

Date: 2006-02-23 07:17 am (UTC)At first I loved midnight shifts because it was easier to sleep in and stay up late. But now I'm finding it hard on the body. I've been working here for 3 years. I still find the day shifts hard though because I have to be up by 4:45am and I don't get home till 6:45pm.

Date: 2006-02-23 04:38 am (UTC)I think if I was working by myself in an empty building in the middle of the night I would suceed in scaring myself. Sometimes the imagination can work a little too well. ;-D
Hope you and hubby get some quality time in over your days off.

Date: 2006-02-23 07:23 am (UTC)Oh man, I always scare myself. The elvevators here are eerie. They open and close and travel to the different floors without any prompting. I'm curious to see how they are programmed because I wonder why they move like that at night. There used to be one this floor that would constantly open and close *ding ding ding*. We're in a closed off area so you only heard it if you went to the bathroom, but it was still freaky.
And my coworker just scared the bajeesus outta me. lol I came in downstairs into a dark room expecting it to be empty and I saw something move and nearly pooped myself. lol
Thanks, I can't wait to go home and sleep now!
