The Canadian dollar is the highest it's been in 31 years. I know that this can pose problems for Canadian businesses, but seeing the dollar so high excites me.

The dollar today:

1 Canadian dollar = 1.0056 US dollars

1 US dollar = 0.9944 Canadian dollars

Ah this is annoying for me (I work at TD), every second customer says the exact thing "whats the dollar now?....ok try again....and again!" arghhhh lol.

Pretty cool though considering we can buy from American comapnies and receive lower prices instead of the other way around :)

I LOVE IT to be honest...cross border shopping just is making much more sense now. Of course most of the stuff I buy IS from the US anyway lol...

I think its awesome. I know, I know about all of the things affected...

And wanna hear a laugh? I found a yo yo in my mailbox (I guess someone noticed how many things I have coming from the US!)which said KEEP our dollar in Canada, buy Canadian :P

Well if they would have this sort of stuff in Canada, I wouldn't mind! :P

I hear ya. Things in the US are just cheaper anyhow. Even when our dollar was low, it was still cheaper to buy stuff there... except for the cost of shipping it would pretty much even it out. I stopped shopping on eBay because it annoyed me to no end to see the dot ca site listing almost exclusively in US dollars. Some people said it was just easier to list in US dollars. Easier than what? The site calculates the exchange for you. There is no extra work by listing in Canadian dollars. I always felt like Canadians who listed in US dollars were just trying to make a little extra money off the exchange rate, and I felt that it wasn't fair. So I just stopped shopping there. Now I buy everything in local stores. I wish I could go on a short shopping vacation to the States. It would defintely be worth it now!

Go...

I never thought I'd ever see our dollar worth more than the US dollar! I remember that eight years ago it was at 62 cents. I know that because I was about to do an exchange program overseas and I bought some traveller's cheques in US dollars. Boy did I lose a lot of money!

I never thought I'd see our dollar worth as much as the US dollar, let alone more! I am glad to see this.

Good for you but I just read that and said "Oh shit".

I deal with exhange rates all day at work but never CAD because we have a Canadian office that handles all that. I had no idea we were even getting close in value.
