ok this is what my mom gave me. it's obviously right off: 4 cups of icing sugar, 2 tbsp. of margarine or butter, 2 tbsp. milk and capful of vanilla extract!
Yours actually sounds really thick. The only thing I would suggest to change is the amount of icing sugar... to about 2 cups.
A capful of vanilla is about a teaspoon.
For the butter or margarine, it all depends on how decadent I want the icing to be. Some recipes out there call for a cup of shortening... that's a little too rich for my blood. lol I usually stick to around a 1/4 cup... some days it's 2 tablespoons, other days just under a half cup (no more than that though!!).

Date: 2005-09-13 09:09 pm (UTC)Ummmm... I think used about this much of everything:
1/4 cup butter or margarine (I usually use margarine 'cause it's softer)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups of icing sugar
2 tablespoons of milk
Beat it all together in a bowl. Add more milk or icing sugar to play around with the consistency until you get it to your desired thickness.
