For the peanut butter & chocolate lovers! This is another recipe I created from inspiration from various recipes to put them all in one delicious square.

Peanut Butter Brownies

Peanut Butter Brownies

Yield: approx. 3 dozen bars

INGREDIENTS
    2/3 cup butter or margarine
    1/2 cup water
    2 cups sugar
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup cocoa powder
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 1/3 cups (8ozs) semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 cup chopped salted peanuts

OTHER INGREDIENTS
    peanut butter
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
buttercream icing + icing sugar + more peanut butter

DIRECTIONS
Heat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease 13" x 9" x 2" baking pan.

Place butter and water in saucepan. Heat over medium heat until bitter is melted. Stir in sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; beat with wooden spoon until well blended.

Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir into sugar mixture, stirring until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and peanuts. Spread mixture in prepared pan.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull from sides of pan.

Immediately drop blobs of peanut butter and sprinkle chocolate chips over hot brownies. How much you use is up to you! I use about 1/2 cup of each. Take a butter knife or spatula and swirl the peanut butter and chocolate while it melts; make sure the entire brownie surface is coated evenly. Allow to cool completely.

The icing is optional, but I think it makes them even more decadent! Take you favourite vanilla buttercream icing and turn it into peanut butter icing. To do that, just add about a cup of peanut butter (it all depends on your recipe, and I don't use a recipe for icing, I eyeball everything!), and then add more icing sugar to get it the right consistency. (Mine have a green tint 'cause I used food colouring this batch.) Spread over cooled brownies. Cut into squares and enjoy!

I used food colouring to tint the icing a green colour. It's not necessary. I hope you enjoy the recipe!
