Oh and...

I forgot to mention that my husband had the plumber in yesterday. It cost us $300, but at least there is no more leak. The old tub drain was made of plastic. The plastic cracked, the bottom of the tub rusted, and the rust made it difficult to keep the pipes (old and new) fitted properly. Patching the ceiling should be fun now.

So much to shell out lately. Vicki was supposed to cost $500, but after we got a bag of cat food the total was $675... No, not from the cat food. lol Obviously their quote was too low. Blah. Bills freakin' suck!!

OMG I simply cannot believe that vet bill. Next time come up to Canada - it is way cheaper!

I am in Canada. ;) We went to one of the top 3 animal hospitals in Canada. The cat food is expensive... it was probably at least $50... They made me add extra shit to the bill and said it in such a way that I would feel terrible if I didn't do it. I agreed to it all 'cause I hated the pressure they put me under. Generally though, that place is always twice expensive. They were the only ones taking spays so soon, so we had no choice.

Vets have a way of pressuring people about buying their food. In the old days, science diet food was pushed big time because they made a deal with vets to supply them with some of their machines in exchange for selling their food products. Bah humbug!

I think Science Diet is the company that makes this food, but I cannot find another brand of cat dental food anywhere. Seriously! Sometimes the pet stores carry Science Diet, or another name produced by Science Diet (lol), but it's the same price as what the Vets sell. My cats need to eat it because their teeth were getting yellow. I cannot cut them off their morning canned food because that's their favourite part of the day! They love the dental food so much, when we first got it we joked that we will have to start mixing it with weight control food. lol

In all my years of breeding I have never heard of cat dental food! I give my cats mostly hard food and it cleans their teeth and keeps then purrrfect. In the morning I give them a touch of wet food as a treat - other than that - they are on dry food.

Yeah, that's how we feed our cats, but their teeth were going yellow. I tried brushing their teeth too, but it was best for the 3 of us that I gave that up.

how old is the house? maybe you can call the new home-owners association or whatever they're called and see if the builders will pay for that...it's not your fault they went the cheap way.

re: vicki's bills....i hate to say i told you so about that damn alta vista clinic. they are thieves! awww i feel so bad for you guys :(

I think it's outrageous the way vets can bill us for their services. We got our dog neutered this spring and it cost $200. I can't believe you had to pay so much. I would have told them what they could do with the extra charges they tacked on. After all, a written estimate is a contract and they should uphold their end of it. Never mind the little add ons that do add up to lining their pockets.
I think that a lot of name brand pet foods now are outrageously overpriced as well. I think you are paying more for the name than the quality of the product. If they cut back on the fancy packaging and advertising they could save a bundle because no way does the processing and manufacture cost that much.
