News Event #4

I accomplished a little bit today so I feel better now. It still feels like time is slipping away, especially when it comes to Christmas. I haven't started to shop for my husband yet. I'll probably order most of his gifts online, so I better start shopping soon so they can be delivered in time.

We went out for dinner tonight, just to a little restaurant down the road. The intersection was blocked by police cars and taped off so pedestrians couldn't get in either. There were CSI guys on the scene too. They had mini pylons marking out places on the street. I saw a bike laying on its side, so I fear that someone was hit. The news plays on the radio at the top of the hour and it was 7:30pm, so I'll have to google to find out what happened. My neighbourhood is becoming more and more scary by the week. That's the 4th major event, with the last one being the young woman that was murdered.

Tomorrow's my last day off. Hubby and I are hoping to go to a matinee at the new theatre. Maybe later in the afternoon we'll go photo shooting around town. My husband wants to take some photos that will be nice enough to hang in the house and fill our empty walls.

I'm doing laundry right now, and I want to clean the bathrooms before bed. I should get offline here and get back to work!

No problem. :) You should! They're my favourite. I like all the old 70's stuff... Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Gratefull Dead, Led Zeplin... but my taste is broader than that.

hehe Yes, it's still far away. I'm just nervous about having the money and ordering soon so it can be shipped in time. Usually I'd be mostly done by now... which I am for the rest of my family. lol

Have you talked to the police station to find out the sudden rash of incidences?

The cops are always patrolling our area. When Jennifer Teague was murdered they held a neighbourhood meeting with the police at one of the churches. My husband didn't want to go to it, so we didn't. I should have gone by myslef, but I think we were busy at that time anyways. I'm sure that the police are aware of the concerns of my neighbours, and they have increased patrolling. It seems there are more bad eggs around here now.

Did any leads or was an arrest made in her murder?

No, the last mention of this crime was when they found her body. There has been no word, no news articles, no radio reports, since the end of September. When they found her body, the police said they were working towards finding her murderer, and weren't dimissing the possibility of a serial killer. It leaves my community, especially her family, with no closure as to who did it and why.

It's hard to say as virtually no details were ever given. All we know is that she was missing after leaving work, at what time she went missing, and that she was killed. The media was saying there might be a connection to another young woman who was murdered. Here's an article on Jennifer Teague (a couple months old, but there's been nothing since) and at the bottom they talk about the other unsolved murder.

as much as it sucks that your neighborhood is getting more dangerous, it is most likely due to the boom of ppl. in that area. barrhaven, ottawa south ie. greely, osgoode, manotick are booming big time. too many people in ottawa, and not enough of anything ie. cops, roads, bike paths, etc...

Yeah, I think you are right. Coming from little T Bay, I'm not used to this. It's pretty nuts. I swear we passed by 4 more new buildings at the mall tonight. Traffic in this area is the shits, and is becoming more populated with all the new stores attracting people down here.
